A Night of Short Independent Films & Filmmakers

The University of Texas Center for Women & Gender Studies presents a night of short films from independent women filmmakers addressing global issues of women and technology as part of the CWGS Gender & Technology Film Series.

Performing the Border
A film by Ursula Biemann, 42 minutes
A video essay set in the Mexican-U.S. border town of Ciudad Juarez, where U.S. multinational corporations assemble electronic equipment just across from El Paso, Texas. This experimental work explores the sexualization of the border region through labor division, prostitution, and sexual violence in the public sphere.
