New Student Organization at UT: Voz Latinoamericana

Estimados Colegas:
A través de la presente les extiendo la más cordial invitación a la primera
reunión de Voz Latinoamericana (VL). La reunión se llevara a cabo el día
martes 30 de marzo, a las 6pm en Garrison 0.132. VL es una organización nueva en la Universidad de Texas, cuyo propósito principal es promover la discusión
de temas sobre Latinoamérica de manera alternativa. En la reunión aclararemos
dudas sobre la organización, hablaremos de posiciones de liderazgo dentro de
la organización y tendremos pizza y bebidas.

New Fellowship opportunity in Washington DC

I want to alert you to an exciting new opportunity for graduating seniors to spend six months on a paid fellowship working in the newsrooms of both The Post and NPR.

The application deadline is April 30. I believe the entire program is self-explanatory in the link attached here.

Paid Summer Internships at Woodrow Wilson Center in DC

March 15 is the deadline to apply for summer. The fall deadline is July 15.




Successful applicants should have strong research and/or administrative skills, be detail-oriented, be able to work independently and collectively as part of group, and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program, a recent graduate (within the last year), and/or have been accepted to enter an advanced degree program. Strong writing skills, language ability in Spanish, and translation experience are preferred.

Center for Media Justice is a movement-building communications strategy and advocacy center for grassroots leaders and organizations based in historically disenfranchised communities nationwide. Our work builds the power of movements for racial justice, economic equity, and human rights to become more effective, transformative, and collaborative.
We work with organizing groups and movement-building alliances nationwide to transform communications policies, strategies, and practices in the service of racial and economic justice through the Justice Communications Program, the Media Justice Movement Building Program, and our signature project, the Media Action Grassroots Network. As an emerging leader in the movement for media justice and communication rights, CMJ is committed to building a staff team and organization that is collaborative, strategic, and effective.

First Meeting of Austin Chapter of NAHJ Scheduled for March 27

The NAHJ Austin Chapter Officers have now set a date, time and place for the first chapter meeting. It will take place on Saturday March 27th from 4:30 to 6:30 at Paradise which is located at 401 E. 6th Street.
