Abriendo Brecha VI – Activist Scholarship Conference

Abriendo Brecha Activist Scholarship Conference is an annual event at the University of Texas at Austin that focuses on research and creative intellectual work in alignment with communities, organizations, movements and networks working for social justice.

Friday, February 20, 2009 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – DDCE Community Engagement Center, 1009 E. 11th St.

Roundtable Discussion – Invited guests Joy James, Andrea Smith, Dylan Rodriguez, Jessica Gordon Nembhard, and Astrid Ulloa

Friday evening Abriendo Brecha participants are invited to a reception at the Carver Museum and Cultural Center, 7:30-9:00 p.m.
There will be a Prison Protest Art Exhibit, gallery talk, and spoken word performance.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 9-11:30 a.m. – DDCE Community Engagement Center 1009 E. 11th St.
Abriendo Brecha Activist Workshop – Drs. Smith, Rodriguez, Gordon Nemhard, and Ulloa will be participating in the workshop. Students, faculty, and community organizers are invited to participate.
