Social Innovation Competition

Everyone Has A Dream To Change the World. What’s Yours?
2008 Social Innovation Competition – Enter To Win $50,000 and Put Your Idea Into Action!
The RGK Center at the University of Texas is looking for undergraduate and graduate level college students nationwide with ingenious entrepreneurial ideas that will change the world. Dream up a plan that combines creativity and innovation to tackle a pressing social issue, and you can win $50,000 to put your plan into action!
Social entrepreneurship uses innovation and creativity to capitalize on opportunities for social change. While conventional entrepreneurs measure their performance just in profits, social entrepreneurs evaluate their success in terms of their contribution to society with a sustainable bottom line.
The 2008 Social Innovation Competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students in any field of study. Entering teams can be comprised of individuals or groups of students.
The competition is similar to a tradition business plan competition and takes place in three elimination rounds:
1. Executive Summary – submit your idea online in 5 minutes!
2. Social Venture Plan – A select group of semi-finalists are invited to write a detailed business plan.
3. Final Presentation – Three finalist teams are flown to Austin to compete live for the $50,000 grand prize.
The deadline to enter is February 1, 2008.
Also, the RGK Center is teaching a Social Innovation Laboratory class open to all UT undergraduate and graduate level students who have an idea and want help writing your plan. Check out the details here
