Latinitas Intern and Volunteer Opportunities

Latinitas is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Latina girls through media. We are seeking talented college students to join our intern program and college service chapter. Get involved & make a difference.
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM LEADERS will mentor girls by helping with media enrichment after-school programs in elementary, middle and high schools. Leaders will facilitate group sessions of 10-15 girls on a weekly basis for an entire year. They lead media-related activities, prepare for after-school clubs and host field trips. Interns must be current college students willing to commit at least 12 hours per week for an entire year. Prior media experience is a plus, but not required. Educational stipends are provided. COMMUNICATIONS INTERNS will have a unique opportunity to learn about non-profit marketing & communications through hands-on activities and exposure to a wide range of projects. This position helps further the public image of the agency and helps create wider exposure in the Austin area. We offer the following intern positions: public relations, fundraising, event planning, advertising and marketing. Hours and days of work are flexible. Interns are encouraged to pursue and obtain experience and skills geared toward their interests!
MAGAZINE INTERNS will gain experience, get published, obtain portfolio clips and make a difference in the community by assisting with the first digital magazine for Latina girls. is a success-themed monthly online magazine with content by and for Hispanic girls about culture, education, relationships, role models, youth issues, wellness, technology and entertainment. We are seeking magazine interns to join our editorial team and assist with our debut print issue for launch in 2008. Magazine interns may assist in the following areas: feature writing, graphic design, photography, web & multimedia development, magazine management, copy editing and advertising.

Latinitas College Council (LCC) at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting members. This new student service organization serves as a volunteer arm of Latinitas, Inc. The primary purpose of the student chapter is to advance the mission of Latinitas through volunteerism. Members accomplish this goal by mentoring girls, volunteering at special events, helping with special projects and raising community awareness and funds to benefit the organization.
