Latino Media Relations Position, Marketwire

Salary Under $45,000
As a critical member of the Marketwire media relations team, you will report to the Executive Director of Media Relations, and will be responsible for developing and implementing media plans within the Latin media community and geographic markets. You will identify, arrange and develop partnerships. Actively foster and manage relationships which will help educate, promote and enhance Marketwire’s core offerings to the media.
Primary responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to effectively coordinate, conduct and foster partnerships, cultivate media contacts, develop media plans within the Latin media communities, write public/internal communication, represent the company at media events and trade shows, coordinates with others to address and resolve medias inquiries and general troubleshooting
A professional business demeanor and appearance is required. Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills.
Required qualifications:
“Can do” attitude, team player, fun, energetic personality, works well under pressure
Ability to interact and communicate with and about the media
Excellent oral, written, presentation, and organizational skills
Must be skilled in media relations, communications, and administration.
Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese a plus.
Knowledge of both the domestic and international markets a plus.
Good organizational skills and strong strategic thinking
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook a MUST
Demonstrated strategic planning, media relations, and issues/crisis management skills
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally; with the ability to consult, build relationships
Some travel required

Fall Reporting Internship at Hispanic Link in DC

College journalism students are invited to apply for a fall 2007 reporting internship at Hispanic Link News Service in Washington, D.C. This program is funded by the Scripps Howard Foundation.
Dates: FALL TERM, Sept. 10 to Dec. 14 — Deadline: applications must be received by July 27, 2007.
Hispanic Link interns will earn a stipend of $2,500 and live in free housing with interns in the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Semester-in-Washington program. The furnished apartments are in Northwest Washington near the National Zoo.
Hispanic Link publishes a weekly news review and syndicates analysis, opinion and feature columns to more than 300 newspapers.
