Interns will work 15 to 25 hours per week in our New York City office. Candidates should reside or plan on residing in the New York tri-state area. College credit is available and recommended. * Currently-enrolled undergraduate student (must have completed at least one year of college)
* A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
* An active interest in the Latino media/entertainment industry

Hispanic Strategy Center Associate
Location: Washington, DC
The Hispanic Strategy Center Associate is responsible for implementing NDN and the Hispanic Strategy Center’s programs. Specific job duties include monitoring relevant legislation, following Hispanic media trends, implementing NDN and the Hispanic Strategy Center’s policy and communications objectives, and overall support of the Hispanic Strategy Center Director. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish, and have 2-3 years experience working in advocacy, politics, or government. Salary commensurate with experience. A new position, the Communications Director will oversee the strategic communications operation for NDN. Primary responsibilities include traditional media relations and the development, production and editing of the public content of the organization. This position will work closely with the NDN President, executive director and heads of NDN’s major affiliates, the New Politics Institute and Hispanic Strategy Center. Candidates must have 5 or more years of experience in political communications, press or media, and possess exceptional writing skills. COMMUNICATIONS (Spanish fluency helpful)
* Hands-on experience working with English and Spanish media contacts

* Write, edit and develop bilingual press releases, editorials, e-alerts and much more

* Perform qualitative and quantitative research

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. You will thrive in this position if you have highly developed organizational skills, creativity, independence, and are task driven.
OUTREACH COORDINATOR (English/Spanish Required)
* Recruit parents, leaders, and students as members
* Help support development and quality of web based database.
* Assist with administrative and logistical tasks
* Respond by phone and/or e-mail to parents and public affairs inquiries
* Write biweekly “action alerts”
* Perform online research
* Conduct local community outreach with and through local nonprofits
This position requires great interpersonal skills to assist in our grassroots efforts. In addition, interns should have great computer skills, compassion, great phone voice, and great organizational skills.

Gain insight into the Latino media & entertainment business and experience in internet marketing and web production. Interns will work 15 to 25 hours per week in our New York City office. Candidates should reside or plan on residing in the New York tri-state area. College credit for the Spring / Fall is available and recommended.
This is an unpaid internship for students who plan to pursue a career in new media or graphic design.
Intern duties will include creating graphics and helping develop and maintain all our websites. We encourages interns to offer suggestions and ideas. The intern will report to the creative director.
The Web intern will gain working knowledge of maintaining a professional Web site by posting updated information tand assisting with the overall organization, design and content of the site.
Knowledge of HTML, JavaSript, and/or Dreamweaver a must. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Image Ready and Fireworks is also required. Unix / Linux, PHP is a plus. We prefer applicants who have taken courses in computer science, Web design or graphic design.
Must be comfortable working on Apple Macintosh Computers.
