Network is ideologically opposed to Chavez

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez is standing firm on his threat to revoke Radio Caracas Television’s broadcasting license when it expires May 28, despite increased international pressure.
The latest blast against Chavez comes from the Inter-American Press Assn., repping newspapers in the Western Hemisphere. In a report released March 19, it said Chavez “was threatening to silence the nation’s main television station … for its independent editorial line.”
Chavez’s government claims its actions are based on complaints about the channel’s news coverage.
