Associate Communications Manager Position in Dallas

The American Heart Association, the nation’s leading voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, has an excellent opportunity available at its National Center in Dallas, Texas.
Selected individual will be bilingual and assist with internal and external American Heart Association marketing and communications tactics, manage specific communications programs/projects and serve as a liaison to affiliate communications staff for the Search Your Heart/Conozca Su Corazon Program. Will drive awareness of the Association’s resources under Search Your Heart/Conozca Su Corazon to African Americans and Hispanics. Also responsible for positioning the Association as the leading source of credible, current information about heart disease and stroke with specific visibility in African-American and Hispanic/Latino communities, assisting in the management of program/project budgets and timelines, pitching story ideas to national diverse media and responding to media requests. Will also coordinate local media tours; monitor print, broadcast and online editorial calendars and coordinate content on communications intranet site.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Public Relations, a minimum of 2 years experience in project management and public relations and knowledge of the principles/practices of print and broadcast journalism: news gathering, interviewing and writing. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills in both English and Spanish are required. Must also have experience in applying the principles and practices of media relations consultation, planning and execution; computer proficiency including all MS Office Programs and the ability to travel up to 20%.
