Austinites who were distraught to hear that one popular local urban radio station — 104.3 KXBT-FM — was to become a Spanish-language format will be glad to learn that The Beat will indeed go on.
Recently, Entercom Communications Corp. signed an agreement to sell the station, known as The Beat, to Los Angeles-based Univision Communications Inc. But Border Media Partners Radio, the largest privately owned Hispanic radio group in the U.S., had other plans for the station.
