SPANISH-LANGUAGE NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINE INTERNSHIPS:
There is a group that is very similar to NAHJ called the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP), which primarily supports Spanish-language print publications. The difference between NAHP and NAHJ is that NAHJ supports journalists who work in English and Spanish-language media.

The Telemundo network offers un-paid, college credit only internships for students who are pursuing careers in broadcast and online news and sports internships.
SPANISH-LANGUAGE NETWORK NEWS INTERNSHIPS (COLLEGE CREDIT ONLY – NOT PAID)

The Telemundo internship program gives you real-world experience and lets you get familiar with our organization and work style. We work with colleges and universities to provide students the opportunity to apply coursework learned or taught in the classroom with practice in the workplace.

TELEMUNDO NEWS INTERNSHIP AREAS: ASSOCIATE PRODUCER – Interns assist producers in the production of shows, help write for newscasts, run the teleprompter, help sort scripts, assist with guests, and watch and log video. Students with a strong interest in producing (news, entertainment etc.) as a career are highly encouraged to apply.

ASSIGNMENT DESK: The primary role for an assignment desk intern will be to learn how to look for story ideas for the newscast, read the wires, watch for breaking news, help the reporters with there stories, coordinate live shots, produce stories. Follow-up assignments will include: Satellite room: learn how to downlink satellite feeds, be on the look out for videos that might be of interest to the newscast, book feeds for packages from reporters. Producers: learn how to put the news cast together. Writers: learn how to write intros for packages, and how to write to video. Editing: learn how to edit packages and voice overs (vo’s). By the end of this assignment, an intern should have a strong working knowledge of several key newsroom activities.

NEWS EDITING: Interns will have the opportunity to be in a dual environment, such as Network news, Cable and Satellite news. Students will be involved in every aspect of news editing: from the rundown, created by the producer, to the searching for the sources needed to edit the material. The student will assist the editor during the process of creating a news package (PKG).

REQUIREMENTS:
The student may work during the Fall, Spring, or Summer College semesters full-time or part-time (minimum 2-3 days per week) based on student availability and department/show needs. Interns will work at the main campus of Telemundo Network in Hialeah, Florida, near Miami.
Internships are unpaid positions requiring students to earn college credit for the semester/quarter. Therefore, all applicants must be enrolled in college or technical and have an interest in one of the internship areas outlined below.

SPANISH-LANGUAGE DIGITAL NEWS INTERNSHIPS (COLLEGE CREDIT ONLY – UN-PAID)

Digital Media interns are involved with the content and technical operations team at Telemundo.com (link: http://www.telemundo.com.
Interns will primarily learn the daily operation of a website. There are several roles that are offered, based on major, to prospective interns. Some of the roles are:
Web Producer: Students will be exposed to creative writing and reporting to assigned mediums, such as entertainment, sports, multimedia, blogs, or sales. Ideal candidates must have strong Spanish writing skills, and computer literacy.
Web Designers: Students will be exposed to creative digital design in form of banners, animations, and other visual styles and techniques used in Digital Media. Ideal candidates must have knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, HTML, and Macromedia Flash.
Homepage Editor: Students will assist the homepage team in daily updates on Yahoo/Telemundo.com. Work closely with the editorial team members on getting the day’s assignments completed. Must be able to work in a deadline-driven environment. The candidate must be willing to work at Yahoo! Offices in Coral Gables, Florida, near Miami. Ideal candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish), fluent in Spanish; working knowledge of Photoshop; knowledge of Communications and Journalism, with excellence in grammar; strong internet and technical skills; must be proficient with MS Office programs and HTML; familiar with web content management and editing tools, familiar with the differences and uses of various types of web images and video a plus; strong knowledge of the internet market trends and the last technology in TV, music, phone and video integrated with the Internet.
Digital Media at Telemundo is seeking creative and innovative students who wish to learn, strive, and grow in the digital industry

TELEMUNDO NETWORK

Sports interns are involved in the production of the daily sports briefs, assist both, associate producers with production related tasks for broadcast programs, and the sports archivist with essential tasks in order to facilitate the efficient execution of show content.
Students with a strong interest in sports producing (and a passion and knowledge of sports) as a career are highly encouraged to apply.
Sports interns are involved in the production of the daily sports briefs, assist both, the Sports Editors with the accumulation of necessary materials for edited content, and the sports archivist with essential tasks in order to facilitate the efficient execution of show content. Interns will also be asked to perform dubbing duties as well as tape logging and digitalization of material to the non-linear editing system.
Students with creativity, a strong interest in editing, and technical production (and a passion and knowledge of sports) as a career are highly encouraged to apply.
